What the number means

Reproducible, not predictive

Sum daily corrected precipitation over your selected months. Compare that sum with the arithmetic mean of the same months in 30 baseline years, 1991–2020. All comparisons omit February 29 to use equal calendars. The displayed difference is (target − baseline mean) ÷ baseline mean × 100.

Missing means insufficient

A missing, negative or nonnumeric daily value blocks its season. The claim receives no verdict unless every target day and all 30 baseline seasons are complete. A zero baseline also blocks percentage comparison. No rain is never inferred from a missing record.

Keep the conclusion narrow

This is one source and a coarse grid, not station validation. The baseline range describes past variation; it is not a confidence interval. A rainfall difference alone does not prove drought, flooding, changing climate or the cause of water shortages.
